ISO 9000 is maintained by ISO, the International Organization for Standardization and is administered by accreditation and certification bodies. Quality managements systems refers to all the processes carried out in order to meet the quality demands of the clients along with the management organization of the company. To ensure that the requirements of a client are met, an independant third party conducts audits to ensure that the quality management system is effective and works. When that has been ensured by the inspector, the company gets a “certificate“ and a confirmation document. Not all companies see advantages in certification, but choose nevertheless to arrange their quality management system in accordance with the ISO-standards and work by that. The following eight basics have been defined by ISO as necessary for a company to adopt, if they want to meet their quality objectives.
