The IT centre of Reykjavik city recently received the international and accredited certification according to ISO/IEC 27001 which is a standard for information security management systems. The certification confirms that the city of Reykjavik has implemented and operates an active management system for information security.

This means among other things, that risk assessment has been done on all information systems used and systematic methods are used to minimize risk. Policies and procedures are in place, risk assessment has been done and business continuity plans have been made.

 The implementation of information security within Reykjavik city started more than two years ago. Right at the beginning the IT management of the city decided to have Stiki’s experts to consult them and help implementing ISO 27001. The city of Reykjavik also chose to use the software RM Studio from Stiki to do risk assessments and manage the implementation process. The success of this work has now come to light, and Stiki sincerely congratulates Reykjavik city on this great results.

Information technology affects all of the employees of Reykjavik city in one way or the other and thus most of the city's daily life in modern times. This is why that certification is an important milestone for the IT centre of Reykjavik which services over 24.000 users on 260 locations.
