Stiki RAI Nursing Home is a registration system for assessing the costs and quality of services in residential and nursing homes. RAI (Residential Assessment Instrument) is a methodology for assessing the quality and costs of services to people in residential and nursing homes. This family of instruments is designed to improve the health and circumstances of the homes' residents. An international set of quality indicators for residential and nursing homesThe methodology was developed in the US 16 years ago, and has since been translated and localised throughout the world in a multi-national collaborative framwork named interRAI. Iceland's participation in this partnership started in 1993. The instruments' use is subject to copyright, and the Ministry of Health has made an agreement with interRAI authorising Stiki to use RAI in this new information system. Under a Government Regulation, the health and circumstances of service recipients must be assessed annually using the RAI instruments. The RAI Nursing Home system is centrally hosted at Stiki, and serves residential and nursing homes all around Iceland. The Directorate of Health has charge of access control and the system's data, and the Ministry of Health and Social Security uses the system to assess the cost of servising the homes.
